Master Butchers Co-Operative Ltd (MBL) is a diverse business with three locations and over 100 employees. The MBL operations are divided up into a number of trading departments and Divisions and they are MBL Food Service, MBL Machinery and MBL Proteins. The MBL Food Service is a leader in packaging, food ingredients and equipment supplies to the food industry. The MBL machinery division supplies an extensive range of food processing equipment and machinery specialising in butchers' machinery. The MBL Proteins recycle a wide range of food industry waste by way of collection and processing of by-products such as fat, bones and mixed abattoir material from our members in two modern environmentally sound plants, at Wingfield and Keith in South Australia.
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced person to form a key part of our purchasing team. The job is located at Athol Park, South Australia.
This position would be an excellent opportunity for a candidate who has a can-do attitude and been working in a purchasing environment and looking for a career progression in the same field.
Some interstate and Overseas travel may be required for the successful candidate.
Develop and execute department Strategies to meet KPIs (in line with Purchasing Team).
Sourcing a diverse range of products including new lines to fulfil Industry trends.
Negotiate with Key suppliers, to improve Purchasing agreements.
Monitoring and managing inventory to optimum levels.
Build Partnerships with key Suppliers.
Be an integral part of the Purchasing Team.
Ensuring Suppliers compliance are met with Quality Assurance and OHS policies and procedures, as supported by the QA Department.
Answering purchasing and product queries from both internal and external clients.
Experiences, Capabilities and qualifications:
Demonstrated experience in a Purchasing / Procurement role from local suppliers. Experience in purchasing from Overseas would be an advantage.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Experience in forecasting and ability to control expense budgets.
A can-do approach to ensure operations run smoothly and effectively.
A problem solving mindset and focus on continuous improvement to improve efficiencies and customer satisfaction levels.
Experience in the food industry and an understanding of HACCP and food safety systems will be highly regarded.
High attention to detail and accuracy, including strong numeracy and data entry skills.
Advanced level of Microsoft Excel and Outlook Skills.
Excellent time management and organisational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Australian work rights.
Pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol testing will be required.
